{"id":18,"date":"2023-04-11T07:21:46","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T06:21:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.asgwa.co.uk\/sailing\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2026-02-07T07:38:53","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T07:38:53","slug":"sailing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.asgwa.co.uk\/sailing\/","title":{"rendered":"Sailing"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"text-secondary fw-bold text-center mb-3 mb-lg-4\">Welcome to the Avon Scout County Sailing Section<\/h2>\n<p>We are the main providers of dinghy sailing activities for The Scout Association in the County.\u00a0Recognised by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) as a training establishment, we offer both introductory sessions for <a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.asgwa.co.uk\/sailing\/book-sessions\/\">scouts<\/a>\u00a0and <a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.asgwa.co.uk\/sailing\/courses\/\">RYA courses for scouts and members of the public<\/a>. covering a wide range of abilities. For scouts and explorers wanting to do an RYA course, we recommend attending an introductory session first, if possible, in order to get the most benefit.<\/p>\n<p>Sailing is from our yard, the David Woodhead Centre, at Nova Scotia Place and within the historic Bristol Floating Harbour and Cumberland Basin. We use a variety of dinghies including Laser Bahia\u2019s, RS Feva\u2019s, RS Zests, and Toppers. All our activities are run by volunteers, sessions are supported by our own safety boats and staffed by our RYA Instructors and leaders, all with appropriate scout permits.
