This course provides the background knowledge and practical skills to handle powerboats up to 10m safely in daytime.
The minimum age is 12 however the certificates of young people aged 12 – 15 are endorsed and they should only use powered craft under the supervision of a responsible adult.
The maximum student: instructor ratio is 3:1.
The course fees include the RYA Start Powerboating book and a certificate for successful students.
Personal details, including DoB, of successful students are sent to the RYA for registration of the Certificate

The course provides background knowledge and practical skills for powerboat drivers who are providing safety and rescue cover for dinghies, windsurfers, canoes/ kayaks and other watercraft and are supporting racing and training fleets.
Pre requisite: Students must be competent powerboat drivers and present a Power boat level 2 certificate before the course.
The maximum ratio of students: instructor is 6:1 in two boats.
The minimum age is 16 years.
The RYA Safety Boat handbook is available for £10 and is recommended.
