The club is a joint venture for (Avon County Scouts) and (Girlguiding Bristol & South Gloucestershire) and works to the rules agreed between the two national associations.
The Avon Scout & Guide Canoe Club (ASGCC) was established in 1994 to support the scout and Girlguiding facility at Benjamin Perry Boathouse, Phoenix Wharf, Bristol Docks. We are unable to provide canoeing for the general public.
We aim to provide people of Guide and Scout age and older with an enjoyable paddling experience through the provision of taster sessions and training course leading toward British Canoeing awards and scout adventurous permit. Due to the nature and environment of the docks we are unable to take cubs, brownies or younger members.
The team of instructors hold British Canoeing qualifications and/or hold a scout adventurous activity permit. They are registered with either Girlguiding or the Scout Association as suitable to work with young persons.
The clubs equipment has been obtained in recent years allows us to provide kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding experiences within the number of craft held.
