Avon Scout & Guide Canoe Club offers support for adult leaders in Scouting and Guiding aiming to become paddling instructors for either the Avon Scout & Guide Canoe Club or for their own groups of young people. Email us on [email protected] to enquire.
Adult members of Scouting or Girlguiding that already have basic paddling skills and would like to practice their skills can attend the free monthly trainee paddling sessions running between August and April.
We have assessors available to run Scout permit assessments for canoe, kayak and SUP permits on B1 waters. The practical part of the assessment is usually carried out in Bristol Harbour. In addition there is usually a chat about the theory part of the syllabus and a review of the paddlers logbook and experience.
When there is sufficient demand we organise British Canoeing Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Courses. This course is a prerequisite for anyone progressing towards the Paddlesport Instructor or Coach Qualifications.

Depending on demand we organise British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor Courses. This qualification is an entry level qualifications that allows people to run taster sessions on very sheltered water or to assist qualified coaches during their sessions.
